My student of the month for November is Sheila DeJoode! Sheila has been one of my adult students for over three years now! She came to me just wanting to learn how to ride a horse, yes a pure beginner. And the poor lady probably wishes she had found a different instructor because now not only is she leasing a horse to ride on her own each month, she is also taking seminars on horse judging and judging our POA trail classes! She has jumped into this horse business with both feet and hopefully she still enjoys it!
The most fun aspect of working with Sheila is she has never been a nervous rider. She is of course cautious, as all intelligent adults should be when starting with horses! But every time I give her a new challenge she gives it her all without worrying over the consequences. The one time she came off a horse she got back up and got right back on! She’s up for all types of adventures and I know the barn group here is hoping she tries showing one day! Sheila has one of the most upbeat attitudes I’ve ever come across and has a smile for everyone at the barn. The other trainers at Chaparosa even know who she is, even if it’s not by name. I’ve been asked before, ‘Who is that super sweet lady in the little black car? She is so nice!’ (True story, Sheila, this happens often!) Looking forward to the future with you Sheila! And eventually, helping you purchase a horse of your own! 😉
