5 Things To Do In Tulsa

Obviously most of us rarely leave the show ground during a POA show especially if our kids are in every event. But if you do get a moment to leave the fairgrounds, or maybe you brought a family member along who doesn’t enjoy watching ponies lope in circles as much as we do, here are some of the most interesting things I found to do in Tulsa during our time there. Keep in mind, this is speculation, I will have to find out more once I arrive!

  1. Fair Meadows, which is on the Tulsa Expo property, has live horse racing Thursday-Sunday evening. Yes, it’s still horse related, but it’s a little more fun to watch horses flying around a track instead of steadily inching around a small arena. And it’s free!
  2. My students are already talking about Big Splash Water Park. I looked it up and it is right next to the park, so they probably could squeeze it in one day. That is if they find 90 degree weather warm enough to swim in instead of their usual Arizona 115 degree weather.
  3. Need a place to breath for a minute? Tulsa River Parks looks peaceful. Only about a 20 minute drive from the expo, there looks to be all kinds of outdoor activities or just a place to put your feet up away from the show grounds. The green pictures are attracting me here, I don’t ever see that color green!
  4. Okay, the Minions movie comes out July 10th. I have a goal to try to get to this while I’m in Tulsa. It may not happen, but I’m going to try. When I looked for movie theaters near the Expo I found something amazing! A drive-in movie theater!! 9 STORY TALL MINIONS! That sounds awesome.
  5. My favorite is good food. I tried to look up the best place to eat in Tulsa, and it looks like there are quite a few great places claiming to be the best restaurant in Tulsa. I will just have to try them all once I get there and get back to everyone in a few weeks!
