The February student of the month is Kennedy Buchanan! Kennedy, or Kiki as we call her, has been so much fun to have around the barn! Her older sister, Maddy, and she got their first POA almost 2 years ago now and while her sister did the majority of showing on Moe at first, it was great to have Kiki helping us in between classes! When we went to Colorado she helped with the grunt work, cleaning stalls and filling water buckets without even being asked! She’s a super fun kid and yet she takes her job seriously!

When she joined us for a camp in Fredericksburg there was a day when I was teaching on one end and she was simply supposed to be pointing out a pattern to older kids at the opposite end of the arena. Instead I heard her yelling instructions to everyone about a half hour in! I told her she had to tone it down a little but was laughing at the same time. Going on the age of 12 this year she is already one heck of a rider and enters the show ring with some serious confidence! She was Hi-Point at the English Scottsdale Saddle Club series last year as the youngest rider in a large youth group! Kiki is already becoming a major competitor and as she grows and comes into more showing opportunities I know she is going to be a winner. She is organized and takes every little detail into account. I think my biggest challenge as she gets older is going to be keeping things not so serious! 😉 Keep an eye out for this up and coming talent!
